Benefits:

Low cost, daily market news and strong site performance lead the firm to a strong showing in the Rate Hunter Profile. MortgageIT is one of the few firms that allows consumers to lock their rate prior to finding a home. Phone customer service was excellent in our testing, though Internet customer service was average. A pros/cons section comparing products is very useful to the Novice, although this information is somewhat buried within the site.

Shortfalls:

The site does not provide loan documents or pre-approvals online. Live chat was not working properly during our test period. The live chat window pops up frequently and can be intrusive. Rate watch alerts are not available.
