Consumers apply online (the credit report is free) and receive a call back with a pre-approval decision within one hour. Rates can be locked online with a refundable deposit.

Benefits:

LoansDirect.com is one of the few Scorecard firms that pays consumers when it can`t meet a bona fide competitive rate. MyLOANAccount offers a detailed, current loan status file, the ability to view and print loan documents and the ability to schedule appraisal dates. The application feature is easy to use, with user-friendly iconography and flexible navigation. Consumers can also order a free home valuation estimate. LoansDirect.com was the first Scorecard firm to offer voice over Internet technology, enabling consumers to speak to a customer service representative online without losing their dialup connections. Unlike many of its competitors, LoansDirect.com makes customer service available seven days a week.

Shortfalls:

Gomez found LoansDirect lacking in customer service responsiveness during our evaluation. Phone and e-mail reply times were inconsistent, while site speed lagged industry norms. Homepage navigation can also be confusing.
