Customers with existing First Union accounts can enroll online for immediate account access. First Union met industry standards for telephone and e-mail customer service this quarter during our test period.

| Shortfalls: |
First Union could improve its application process by allowing customers to fund new accounts electronically and select a PIN during the process. Furthermore, adding online imaging of cleared checks would enhance the account access area for online banking customers.
